  • [Question] Opinion about SmServer tweak. | 2021-05-03
It’s free and open source . Works well for me.
  • [Update] SMServer 0.8.0 - Deleting converstions, running as a daemon, Updating read receipts, removed libsmserver as a dependency, and so much more! | 2021-04-29
Automatically displays texts sent by user from outside of SMServer (#76) | 2021-04-29
If any crash logs show up for the app, that would be great. If you'd also like to try downloading the deb directly from github and seeing if that works, that'd be great. | 2021-04-29
You'll want to download the plist file from here, and then follow the instructions on it. Once you do that, it should run continually in the background (though you won't be able to configure its settings from the app; you'll need to pass them all in as command line parameters).
  • Kind of losing faith in this project fast. Did we get scammed...? | 2021-04-20
Woah! You've definitely piqued my interest with the tapback and reply sending from OS's that don't even support it 🤯, I'm really excited to see this project come to fruition. Here is a ticket I made on SMServer's GitHub page regarding sending attachments through ChatKit vs. IMCore. This jailbreak tweak definitely sounds like it'll be a hit though :)
  • [QUESTION] I want to add a repo do download SMServer. When I add the repo this shows up. I only need this repo to install SMServer. How can I install it? Does anyone else uses SMServer here? | 2021-03-21
You can download the deb directly at then install it using Filza.
  • iPhone as AirMessage server?
    -- SMSserver
  • AirMessage Cloud registration update, proxy server upgrade, and experimental Electron builds
Glad it will be open source soon! I'm thinking about creating a NodeJS script that lets AirMessage clients connect to SMServer--so you could use an iOS device as an AirMessage server instead of needing a mac. If it's not too much trouble, would you be able to include an overview of how the network connection works in the docs? If it would be too much work, though, don't worry about it.
  • [Question] SMServer not working for me. Any alternative? | 2021-02-20
There are a few things you can try to see if they’ll fix your problem — they’re listed here in the FAQ for SMServer. If it still doesn’t work, I’d love to help you debug the issue, or you could check out [[WebMessage]] as an alternative.
  • Question about Airmessage / lieu of Mac / server
For now it only works with a mac, but I imagine once AirMessage is open sourced it would be relatively straightforward to port something like SMServer to talk to AirMessage clients.
  • Update Smserver 070 Added Ability To Send | 2021-02-07
Gotcha, yeah I understand what you mean. And you can modify the html on device (all the html/css stuff is in /Applications/ but it’s minified when I compile the deb. You can find the unminified versions on the github repo and transfer them over to your device or you can just compile the deb yourself with the make script in the repo and (unless you explicitly pass in the -m flag) the html files won’t be minified. Whatever works for you.

There’s also BlueBubbles, an open source alternative, and SMServer, which does something similar but hosts the server on a jailbroken iDevice instead of a Mac.
  • Airmessage using old iPhone instead of Mac
IMO SMServer beats all of these by a longshot. The dev is responsive, it's free, and it's open-source
Not at the moment. Once the source code is released I imagine it would be possible to find out how the AirMessage server talks to its clients and create an iOS app for jailbroken phones that behaves just like a regular AirMessage server. I imagine you could modify something like SMServer to talk to AirMessage clients, but I don't have any experience developing iOS apps, so I unfortunately won't be able to build it.
