SKSE VR is the only hard pre-requisite to any mod that involves behavior changes. Unofficial Patch is also a must have to fix hundreds of little bugs, VR specific patch is needed on top of the main build.

The top 5 mods in my opinion is: 1.SkyUI for VR - Better UI 2. SKSEVR - Needed for most mods 3. Vrik - Player Avatar (Body and hands in vr) 4. Higgs- Functional hands and gravity glove from Half Life Alyx. In vanilla Skyrim VR you cant slap the signs, Now you can. 5.Spell Wheel VR - Better spell management as you want to avoid menus at all cost in VR

You also might want to check out SkyUI (Standard, Special Edition). It *does* require SKSE (Herefor both editions, site looks barebones af but it's the one). It's really simple, makes the UI easier to use on the computer, adds a search function... it's one of those things that seems unnecessary until you've used it, then you go back to the normal UI on consoles and you wonder how you lived without it.
  • Is SKSE's site down?
  • Mod activation question
You will need SKSE for both of these mods. While both Quick Light SE and Display Enemy Level can be installed via a modmanager, SKSE needs to be installed manually AFAIK.

This requires Sky UI, Skyrim VR Tools, and SKSE.
