What are these sensor and solar panels about throughout Atlanta side walks?
reddit.com/r/Atlanta | 2021-05-04
Yeah, and if you want to know what it's sending, get you an RTL-SDR software radio dongle, then compile and run rtlamr on your software development laptop.
Anyone know what this is for? Looks like some sort of solar panel. Seen a few around campus and Atlanta

If you wanna have fun with software radio, this software might be able to receive and decode the signals from that device: https://github.com/bemasher/rtlamr
How to utilize various RTL-SDR projects in one Pi?
reddit.com/r/homeautomation | 2021-04-29
I want to use the RTL-433 project (weather sensors, 433MHz) as well as the RTLAMR project for meter readings (915MHz). Is there any way to utilize both projects on the same SDR? How about on the same Rasbperry Pi, but with two USB RTL-SDR's?

Apparently my Electric meter here in the uk has ZigBee. Why?
reddit.com/r/homeautomation | 2021-04-02
In us you are likely be able to use https://github.com/bemasher/rtlamr to read your electric meter. My gas meter sends reading only on a wake signal and that suxx, cause I really need to know how many ccf i burnt in the morning vs afternoon

Light to notify when utility power is back on before main breaker?
reddit.com/r/electricians | 2021-03-03
With RTL-AMR, I can remotely read not only my own meter, but I also am in range of the radio signal from two neighbor's meters, so I can tell if their power comes back but mine does not.

At least the ones I have seen are not. I am able to read the all the power meters in my building with a cheap USB SDR and this software.
I have not gotten around to figuring out which one is mine or a good way to system to store/display the data but I certainly can read the date.
In the grand scheme of things it is a minor to medium security flaw, power usage could be used to infer which houses contain valuable items and when people are home. I'd say medium at most since a lot of other things Visible curbside indicate this as well (lights, cars in the driveway, etc.). On the other hand, electronics are pretty efficient. A wealthy house with all the lights on is still using less electricity than a small apartment using an electric stove. But I guess if you were really interested in stealing electric cars then it would be really useful.

I plugged it in and started up this project: https://github.com/bemasher/rtlamr Within 5 minutes, I was able to pick out my meters (gas, electric, water) from the noise. Depending on how populous your area, this might be a challenge.

Disappearing Scm Signals Maybe New Meters Or
reddit.com/r/RTLSDR | 2021-01-29
My previous meter was a CL200 unit, type C1SR. The new one is CL200 type CS2M. It's my understanding that the "R" means RF, so the absence of "R" in CS2M is a little disheartening. This rtlamr issue shows bemasher reaching the same conclusion. Here's another issue (from 2016) with bemasher stating he likely won't be able to implement OpenWay decoding, and another one from last month (Dec 2020) confirming lack of support.
Anyway to read a SENSUS FlexNet device on my home? It reports water usage to city who drive by in a van periodically. Would love access to my raw data.
