u/SamsungGalaxyPlayer posted a graph a couple months ago in the ‘Increase ringsize for Monero v15’ GitHub discussion which shows ring size vs transaction size.

FYI the ring size for the v15 hardfork, likely June/July of this year, is still an open issue: https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/79
  • Monero Patents: How patents could impact Monero, and what the community can do.
    reddit.com/r/Monero | 2021-02-26
This one has a very simple fix. If some proprietary patented technology can reduce the number of decoys in Monero by say 20% from 10 to 8, then increasing the number of decoys from say 10 to 20 would deal with the problem. The number of decoys after both the attack and the defense would increase from 10 to 16. Of course since the patented technology is proprietary one many not know what the percentage reduction in the number of decoys is. The prudent course of action then is to increase the number of decoys as much as it is feasible as soon as possible. There is a conversation on GitHub on this very topic. https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/79

Is there a way to persuade you to keep working on Monero? There is still plenty of interesting R&D to do and a growing community that can fund your work.

Please don't, it's not great for privacy and probably shouldn't exist in its current form: https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/78
  • Who's long on Monero?
    reddit.com/r/xmrtrader | 2021-01-31
Lock times are an errant feature which should in fact be removed (see https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/78). Please do not use them because if people actually start using them, it might complicate the removal process.

unlock_time is a dangerous feature that I would like to get deprecated. Even its innocent usage is perilous; you might lock more coins than you gamed for! Read more in this research-lab issue I opened: https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/78
  • How does monero plan to be scalable as well as private?
    reddit.com/r/Monero | 2021-01-09
Both replies so far a are incorrect. Current ring size is 11, which is already pretty good for privacy, but dicussion is to increase it to up to 17 in the near future: https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/79

The choice is pretty arbitrary and changing it has been a difficult discussion so far every time it came up. It will change again this year, and there is an open discussion here: https://github.com/monero-project/research-lab/issues/79 on what the chosen value should be. And yes, the tradeoff is larger transactions taking up more block space and making the blockchain larger, taking longer to be validated, and (less importantly) to be signed.
