Solved Grey Artifacts Issue Through Shady Firmware Update
After a lot of frustration, I found a solution on https://github.com/AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive. By installing the most recent firmware I found there, all my problems disappeared. Not only did the artifacts go away, but my RLC-510WA also got the same new GUI as my RLC-811A, plus some additional features.

Firmwareupdate fails
If you're comfortable using an unofficial source, you could go to the unofficial firmware archive and do that yourself. Since it was a big jump from the v2 that you have to v3 (it's a completely brand new UI and everything), I'd probably start with the oldest v3 on there, v3.0.0.59_20081247, then if that's successful try going to the latest.

RLC-823A Pre-alarm
Your firmware isn't newer than what's on their website, it's actually about a year older. v3.1.0.2217 is newer than v3.1.0.989. There have actually been 5 updates in the meantime. I would suggest looking at the unofficial firmware archive to see a version history.

WiFi Doorbell RTSP Stream crashing / disconnecting intermittently with latest firmware?
Maybe try to roll back to the previous firmware if possible? https://github.com/AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive/releases

POE Doorbell hooked into NVR not working as I would expect...
I don’t have a doorbell but one thing to check is your NVR firmware is the latest. Don’t use the app or NVR to check for firmware. It doesn’t work. Always says up to date. Get you NVR model and Hardware version number (eg mine is RLN8-410 and N7MB01). Also look at what your current firmware version is. Go to site: https://m.reolink.com/au/download-center/ And plug in your NVR details. Update your NVR firmware if there is a more recent version available. I also find this site helpful as it gives descriptions and links to old firmware and the improvements it had for that version. https://github.com/AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive

Adding cameras from web or client
Yeah, I went back and checked all the old update notes on the unofficial firmware archive and didn't see it in any of those either.

Downgrade firmware e1 outdoor
I have recently downgraded it from v3.1.0.1584_22120966 to 3.1.0.989_22051906 (to me the one that works best), with no issues. However I have not found any pointers to the v3.1.0.804_22012406 you request, neither in the unofficial archive or in this sub, beyond this comment. Nor have I seen references to a 'pet detection' feature for that model. As far as I know it is only available in newer versions of certain E1 models. Certainly, I'd be pleased if I could get it for the IPC_523SD8.
