Avid Chromer since 2009. Just permanently ditched Chrome for Firefox. 'Total Cookie Protection' is a killer feature. I'm so done with endless tracking and site manipulation.
I wish this was more configurable, some canvas-based app do not work with this option enabled :c (for example it appears to be the case with mapbox based games : https://www.qwant.com/maps)

OsmAnd+ routing tips?
Qwant has IMO a better and faster map renderer and also does routing. They are a "privacy by design" company. They also use Openstreetmap data with all the pros and cons that has.

Qwant Maps
the architecture is explained at https://github.com/Qwant/qwantmaps ("Erdapfel, kartotherian, Mimirsbrunn, Idunn") with most components open sourced. OSM edits show up 24h later if you include the POI tags it is looking for to be shown. The address detection needs some more tolerance though. It mostly fails if I do not include commas at the necessary spots or use area codes with city names. I'm personally happy with qwant in general as bing index frontend and like their incumbent approach to maps

Each firefox download has a unique identifier. Unitl you disable telemetry after the first install. or disable internet during installation.
Try www.qwant.com/maps/ Doesn't work for me in librewolf.

A more "exciting" https://openstreetmap.org would have made me sign up months earlier.
BTW https://www.qwant.com/maps is fully OSM based and -does- position itself as a gmaps alternative. Note that even though it is quite well funded, it is obviously missing a couple of bits and pieces that are these days considered essential.

If someone is looking for an open-source webinterface for OpenStreetMap that offers a bit more eye candy, I recommend taking a look at Qwant Maps. Another useful OSM tool is uMap (source).
