    Yes it requires some skill - independent of the language you use ;) I would suggest VBA, as it offers more fine grained control. The Javascript-based office 365 API still lacks a lot of the functionality available in VBA. Make sure to check out the Custom UI editor to create your own Ribbon tabs: https://github.com/OfficeDev/office-custom-ui-editor
