Regarding structure, check out node best practices, where structuring by component (aka structuring by feature or module) is recommended, so in node.js it's already known that structuring by type not scales well, disregarding of the project size.

I define a variable "createSmthSchema" with yup schema before controller function, and just call it in controller function, looks like this. (yup because better works with typescript then joi). And this is only checks for required parameters and correct types, no db calls. And then in the service layer I can make calls to db to check if all is fine, and then apply changes, all in single transaction.

  • Is there anyone who is using Metarhia technology stack on node?
    reddit.com/r/node | 2021-04-19
Tons of opinions in internet and here on r/nore each second topic is about such recommendations. node best practices is a good place to start, in general approaches are up to developer opinion: I prefer simple functions, many others prefer nest.js with OOP practices, metarhia author prefers over engineering and using globals, and everyone is right on its own

    reddit.com/r/node | 2021-04-10
If you are wanting to serve a lot of static files though, I would recommend against doing this with Node.js - it's not well suited for this task due to being single-threaded. You can read more about this and alternative approaches for serving static files here: https://github.com/goldbergyoni/nodebestpractices#-511-get-your-frontend-assets-out-of-node
