Signal-Android
Patches to Signal for Android removing dependencies on closed-source Google Mobile Services and Firebase libraries. In branches whose names include "-FOSS". Uses new "foss" or "gms" flavor dimension: build with "./gradlew assembleWebsiteFossProdRelease" (change "Website" to "Play" pre v7.15.4). (by tw-hx)

Signal-Android
Fork from the JohanW fork of Signal, a private messenger for Android. It adds the option to import Whatsapp conversations. The purpose of this fork is to make the transition to Signal easier. It was created out of a personal need and might not be supported or extended in the long run. (by jukefoxer)

Buy European Made. Support European Values
Not if you're using Molly-FOSS, which strips all Google integrations down to a shared library level. UnifiedPush instead of Firebase. OSM for location sharing instead of GMaps. There are de-googled AOSP-based mobile OS's such as GrapheneOS that can be used with Molly-FOSS as well.
It's not necessarily the perfect end goal, but for those who are at an earlier phase of their privacy journey, GrapheneOS + Molly-FOSS is a massive improvement over stock Android + stock Signal.

Concerns Raised over Bitwarden Moving Further Away from Open-Source
At least a way you can get around this is to do the backing up by desktop. I'm assuming you're on an iPhone because Android supports backup.
If you are Android, see Molly: https://github.com/mollyim/mollyim-android

Signal - FOSS - Issues / Questions When Sharing Location with OpenStreetMap
Haven't used Signal FOSS, but as it happens Molly bas just implemented OSM support, perhaps when it lands you might have better luck with it. Anyway, is there no issue tracker for that fork? I tried looking in their repo and found it disabled
