I am currently using Debian on my MacBook Air. The broadcom wifi card driver is not in the official repository so I had to use an external wifi dongle when first installing the OS. You might also encounter issues with the webcam, so this link might help. I am also using mbpfan to help with heating issues. Other than that, I haven't had any issues.

Go Linux for sure. If running non-macOS on your Apple hardware, be sure to setup mbpfan else you’ll not have proper cooling.
  • 2015 MBP 15 Linux?
    2 projects | /r/linuxhardware | 10 Sep 2022
Hi, I have the same MBP model as you and I’ve used Linux on it before with next to no issues. The only thing that doesn’t work iirc is the webcam. It also ran kind of hot, so you may want to install mbpfan. The battery life seemed fine. I think the network card no longer has issues (it’s been awhile since I last had Linux on it) but if you have issues with wifi, install the brcmfmac package. If you have issues, you can feel free to message me or refer to the Arch Wiki section on the 2015 MBP, as it will be useful whether you’re using Arch or not.

  • Arch Linux on iMac 2019

The 2019 iMac doesn’t have a T2 chip. Arch runs on it but has some small issues. Make sure you use the LTS kernel otherwise you won’t have brightness control. You will also need a custom driver for audio. I’m on mobile right now but I can get you a link to that. Oh, and you will need to install mbpfan for fan control.
