  • Modding Skyrim (and other bethesda games) on Linux. Is that even possible?
Currently there are scripts available for both MO2 and Vortex, though the latest one for Vortex on Lutris (1.4.15) is currently broken, the latest working script can be found here:
  • Cant get any mod manager to work like Vortex and Mod Organizer 2
  • Skyrim on Linux or MacOS?
However, I've never been able to get mods to work. I've tried /u/Rockerbacon's Lutris scripts (, I've tried manually setting everything up and still no luck. Clearly quite a few people have had success modding Skyrim but it's still much more straightforward on Windows.

Also, only somewhat related, but if anyone has figured out a way to run .NET Script Framework I'd love to hear it. Game wouldn't even start with it installed. Installing dotnet48 with protontricks (thanks to this) allowed me to load into the game, but the DLL Plugin Loader says that .NET Script Framework failed to initialize.

There is also this installer for F4SE and SKSE and other script extenders for Beth games, it also installs and configures a mod manager

  • [SKYRIM SE MODDING TOOL REQUEST] - Texture Generator for Linux.
I should have read into that a bit more, however it was my assumption that Texconv used direct x partially because of the DDS conversion. My bad. I did get that information from here said by koamq, and this was reported in an issue on Github.

As for TTW, the installation on windows is complex, so on Linux it may be worse. On the GitHub page I linked they have an issue which covers what some other people did to try and get it to work, however it seems long winded and may or may not work. here it is if you want to browse through. Someone at the bottom said they managed to get the installer to work via wine by installing something via wine tweaks. If that works it would be your best bet. Maybe not worth it if you just want to get playing rather than tweaking this for hours :D. If you do manage to get it working you could leave a message on the issue page. | 2021-08-13
The mod organizer installation pretty much works as the windows version does, there are a few differences which can be found on the github page, especially with enbs.
  • Building Skyrim Modding on Linux - Digging for LOOT (LOOT problems on Linux.)
Let me explain that I, through Lutris run a version of MO2 provided by rockerbacon. I followed through this installation guide for Skyrim Modding for Linux, except I substituted Legend for SE.
  • Release: Steam Tinker Launch - 6.13 - Good day!
You might want to look at this MO2. It has been working really well. He doesn't install it to the proton prefix itself but to its own. Then he uses slinks to the game prefix and folder for a great result. The MO2 instance is not shareable between games, every game needs it's own MO2 prefix. But it works well.
