Using Ionic web components with vanilla JS in Rails?
I'm working on a Rails project and was interested in using Ionic's set of web components as a component library without adopting a frontend framework (since the team is already invested in Hotwire/Turbo). I found a thread from a while back pointing to https://github.com/ionic-team/ionic-pwa-toolkit as an example of how to use the web components in vanilla js, but couldn't get it to run (it says "✖ Starter "ionic-pwa" does not exist.").

Is Ionic development ACTUALLY doable without a JS framework?
Technically, yes. The biggest issue is routing. If you pick any off-the-shell router, you're not going to get nice, native transitions. We do have a Stencil example that uses web components and uses our `ion-router` component that is a very minimal router so you can give this a try if you like: https://github.com/ionic-team/ionic-pwa-toolkit
