You can also run your own instance of Invidious (https://github.com/iv-org/invidious) which provides a lightweight web-based replica of YouTube, with no ads or dark patterns. There are public instances: https://redirect.invidious.io but I suggest running your own as the public ones are often overloaded.

  • Ridiculously Huge Numbers [video]
    news.ycombinator.com | 2021-09-21
*Note:* The URL is via an Invidious[0] instance (an OSS YouTube front-end). If, however, the link doesn't work for you, try replacing the domain with "youtube.com" to view directly from YouTube.

This series is pretty nifty. It's starting point is the simple, child-like curiosity about ludicrously big numbers. Numberphile has videos on Graham's Number[1], the insanely larger Tree(3)[2], and even Rayo's Number[3] which might be at the limit of describable large finite numbers.

However, this post's series dives into the gory details of how one even encounters such insane large numbers and where large finite numbers touch on deep mathematics. It's fascinating how such a simple starting point can quickly lead into deep questions about Foundations.

    I hope you enjoy!
