  • PPD Comparison Chart
Looks like arvtips doesn't know how to calculate ppd, shame on me for trusting a random website. I don't have time to calculate all the ppds, but I did a few using this website and using (hfov-overlap)/2+overlap to get single eye fov.
  • My experience with the HP Reverb G2 - Short honest review!
    a) No gasket and cover! I can see the edges if I put my eyes in contact with the lenses. I measured FoV with the TestHMD app. The side bars touch the edges at 98°, while the upper and lower bars touch the edges at 90°. The measurement tool has an accuracy of 1° or 2°, so I think that something between 98° and 99° and between 90° and 91° are better measurements. Yes, the bars were more towards the upper limit than the lower limit of the range. You cannot have bigger FoV than this! My pupils were attached to the lenses! My IPD is 63 mm. G2 allows for manual IPD adjustment, that's very good. For science sake, I consulted the list of max rendered FoVs here. Yes, I measured the max FoV of the G2!

They actually do have less overlap, it's just not noticable so it doesn't matter. For reference natural overlap is about 120 degrees, headset overlaps can be found here

The level of power of the GPU/CPU and whether or not SPS matters is largely driven by the field of view (FoV) and resolution of the VR headset. Most VR headsets have a fairly narrow FoV ( which means that there is a smaller area of world to render, fewer cars within sight to render and all this means less work for the physics and rendering engines of the game. FoV has the higher impact than resolution but both have an impact. Unless your GPU is nearing the max of it's capacity then SPS makes no difference, and with either of these GPUs unless you need a really high FPS, and/or have a wide FoV or very high resolution you won't currently need SPS to have a good experience.
