And note that you CAN actually use the nextcloud mobile app in conjunction with Memories in order to auto-upload photos from your phone.

Nextcloud on Android
This page on github implies that there is indeed an Android app, which is a big reason why I got Nextcloud up and running in the first place. But I can't seem to find an app anywhere... Is the only Android option (at the moment) to run Memories in a web browser? Thanks, everyone, for the clarification.

My quick review of selfhosted photo apps
PiI've scoured the site for lists of selfhosted photo apps and made note of https://github.com/meichthys/foss_photo_libraries checking out a few of them. I have not tried all of them but so far it seems that I am going to settle on Photoview unless anyone can address the issues I list below with the others.

Nextcloud Photos 2.0 vs PhotoPrism
Nextcloud Photos already supports albums with the functions you need. If you've a bigger library and need better performance, you might want to take a look at Nextcloud Memories (disclosure: I'm the author).
