Either you go the D2R Route (very different from d2 1.0). Or you install something like https://github.com/fearedbliss/Cactus for easy switching of versions on D2.

Also, if you are not using it yet, Cactus is a great and easy to use tool to setup a multi-version Diablo II installation. Allows you to easily switch between a whole bunch of versions.

Any fans of playing old versions? A collection of some LOD 1.07 gear.
No problem, I used to use D2SE for 1.07 as well at first. It was alright but after finding Cactus there was no going back. I'd also suggest getting Singling as well.
