  • Do I have to enroll in Apple Developer Program to distribute macOS applications as a final product?
    3 projects | | 7 Nov 2022
Our build process is automated using fastlane. That handles building and testing the app as well as signing, notarizing and uploading to Amazon S3. We distribute via a link on our website -- Callisto. Updates are handled using Sparkle. We have a custom built appcast generator as part of our website that reads the S3 bucket and builds the feed that Sparkle uses.
  • React Native Expo automated deployment using fastlane and CircleCI
    3 projects | | 1 Nov 2022
Expo also provides a cloud based build and deployment service, EAS, that makes it easy to deploy an app to the store and keep it up to date. While this may be suitable for some organisations, there may be a need to build and deploy the app using an organisation's own infrastructure or existing CI/CD platform. This post will walk through an approach to building, testing and deploying an app using fastlane and CircleCI. While CircleCI is used for this example, this could be substituted with a CI/CD platform of choice that has support for Linux and MacOS build agents. CircleCI was chosen because its free tier is sufficient for building, testing and deploying Android and iOS apps with little configuration.

  • Fastlane is so bad
    2 projects | | 11 May 2022
yes, dSYM upload was one of the many reasons for the update (fixes to 2fa, and the many many fixes to to changes to AppleStore Connect API ). And yes of course i often have no clue what is the problem, i'm not the maintainer of a gigantic toolchain library, nor an experienced ruby developer to say the least.
  • What is the best way automate builds for a React Native hybrid mobile/web application?
    2 projects | | 15 Feb 2022
Not using expo. Yeah I know I figured we'd be using Azure pipelines. I was more trying to figure out the best way to automate the build and release process. Like should we use Fastlane or would it be easier better with something like nx. I know very little about this stuff so trying to figure it as I go lol.
