Have you (or, well, anyone else in this thread) ever used a keyboard with wells like the Kinesis Advantage or the Dactyl? How does it compare to a flat columnar keyboard like this one? I'm a happy user of an ex-dactyl, but I'm thinking of building a flat split columnar keyboard for better portability, but I'm afraid that the ergonomics might be worse.

I'd like to make my own iterations on the Dactyl (specifically the Ex-Dactyl fork which adds an extra inner column). However I am not a programmer and I cannot make heads or tails of the Dactyl Clojure code, or any other kind of computer code for that matter. Has anyone written a guide for people like me that explains what all the different parts of the code do and how to edit them?
