  • Any distros that are suitable for someone with ABSOLUTELY ZERO technical knowledge?
Elementary is ideal if you like the look and feel of a Mac, and is designed from the ground up to be user friendly.
  • My ThinkPad T61 and X61! They’re not the prettiest ones out there in terms of cosmetic condition, but I love using them! Currently running Windows 10 on both of them—any suggestions on Linux distros that run well on these old machines?

Give Elementary OS a try, it is usually not thought as a lightweight distro (maybe because it is looks good), but I used to run it on an Ivy Bridge i3 (probably faster than the Core 2 Duo, but not by much) with 2GB of RAM and it ran very, very well.
  • I have an "old" Mac Mini (mid 2011) that I purchased off eBay some time ago that I need to completely wipe, reformat, and reinstall the OS onto, but I don't have the original install disk. Is there a way I can do this without the original install disk?

You could also install Linux. ElementaryOS is based on Ubuntu and heavily inspired by MacOS.
  • Best no hassle distro?
elementary OS has pretty good touch gestures, and works most of the time with no problems, but to add repositories you'll have to run sudo apt-get install software-properties-common

Chat or write an email to technical support https://www.xp-pen.com/page/Contact. I had troubles in the past and they helped me solved this. I'm using https://elementary.io/

Elementory OS in simple words can be described as open-source alternative which gives you feel of using macOS. Elementary OS is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu LTS. It promotes itself as a “fast, open, and privacy-respecting” replacement to macOS and Windows and has a pay-what-you-want model. The operating system, the desktop environment, and accompanying applications are developed and maintained by Elementary, Inc. You can download it from Official Elementory Website.

One of the things I like about elementary is the care taken with UX. For instance, for less experienced users pasting random commands in the terminal is a sensitive operation, specially if these commands involve administrative privileges. For this reason, elementary's terminal app shows a warning when the user pastes commands involving sudo or with newlines.

    Want Looks: Elementary
  • "System Settings" app uses way too much screen space
This is clearly not intended behaviour. Please file a bug report at https://github.com/elementary/os/issues. They may not be able to get back to you immediately because they are working intensively on elementary OS 6, and most people have a 1080p display. But yes, you should not have to upgrade your display to use elementary OS. If they don’t want to support it they wouldn’t have let you use it at this resolution anyway
  • Unable to download
Tried again a few minutes ago, still the same. It's weird because pinging elementary.io and the links the button should redirect to after inputting a price are online, it's just that the buttons don't work :/
Tried to download elementaryOS Hera from elementary.io, did the usual select 0 to get the download link right away, but it's not taking it, tried to add 10 dollars to see if it might change it, didn't update the download now button either. I thought it might be chrome, switched to firefox, same story. Thought it might be my PC, switched to a macbook on safari, same story. Is this happening to anyone else?
  • Anyone think they can help, fairly certain OS X Mavericks isent supported by Apple anymore so it can’t install, but is it possible to boot something else?
