I would also recommend investigating dwm_lut or novideo_srgb as alternatives to actually applying the profile, as they're actually a bit more robust than the native Windows color management system.

No hardware needed when you can apply 3D LUTs system-wide for free: https://github.com/ledoge/dwm_lut
dwm_lut: works by hooking into DWM (the desktop window manager), and transforms colors via a 3D LUT. Has some performance impact and doesn't work with exclusive fullscreen, but other than that, it's as good as (or maybe better than) an external LUT box.

novideo_srgb: sRGB clamp/calibration on NVIDIA GPUs, based on EDID data or ICC profiles
3D LUT calibration is even better (and used for professional video production etc.) as it can fully correct for non-linearities, but it doesn't seem to be supported by NVIDIA/AMD GPUs. I did make another tool that can effectively calibrate monitors using 3D LUTs by hooking into DWM to apply them to the Windows desktop, but this comes with some drawbacks (performance impact, and it doesn't work in fullscreen or with DRM'd content).
