In CSGO on Ubuntu 22.04, with i7-7820X and RX580, I get about 30 FPS at minimum settings. Does that sound low?
If that's the case, I'd try switching to the official .deb, or the (non-official) Flatpak.

Elden fails to launch
Try: - Playing the game with Flathub Steam (EAC/Multiplayer will work) - Disable EAC like this (Multiplayer will not work) - Try Proton-7.0-4 or ProtonGE (May or may not work)
-
EAC still a working thing? Not working on any proton right now..
Often, using the Flathub Steam Package fixes this issue without any tweaking.

Completely new to MXLinux
EXEs are designed for Windows and generally don't work on Linux. There is Wine to run generic windows apps but compatibility is all over the place (otherwise people would already adopt Linux for general home computing en masse) and Proton for gaming with hit and miss result. If your games are supported, you might be able to just keep using Linux, otherwise, you can dual boot or just switch to Windows entirely if you don't have any preference. Try installing Steam (even if you didn't purchase any game, you can try some of the free games) to see how it works for you.

The recent Glibc 2.36 update breaking EAC fiasco has inspired me to try Steam Flatpak for the first time.
I got this impression because someone reported it on that Github page. On the other hand, in many cases these kind of issues may turn out to be something wrong on the user's end. For example someone else reported that he had lower performance on Steam Flatpak compared to the repo package, but then it turned out to be caused by different Mesa driver version (he probably had newer system Mesa that probably improved performance for that game.
So yeah, just wanted to share my experience. Overally I'm very happy because now I'm sure that I'll be able to upgrade to Fedora 37 and still enjoy some of my favorite games. However, if you're interested to try Steam Flatpak, I strongly recommend to take a look at its Github issues page and see if there aren't any deal breaking issues that affect you personally. For example, it still has some issues if you store your games on a separate hard drive.

Steam (deb/apt) shows error message
As a last resort, you could of course always use Flatpak to install Steam.

What's the deal with flatpaks? So many seem to have issues
Steam doesn't properly add desktop shortcuts to games

How good is flatpak sandboxing capabilities?
If you look at the flatpak manifest for Steam, you see that it already has pretty restrictive sandbox. The only file system permissions it requests are:
