For a farm with all 16GB HDDs and electricity cost of $0.1/kWh, it would be profitable even price drops to $10
Looking at www.chiaexplorer.com (for $/TiB/m), and diskprices.com (for samples of HDD prices)... it looks like about 20 months to break-even, just for the drive. That's getting very close to the 2-year break-even line where many farmers will stop adding space.

No, once you connect a wallet to the internet (such as syncing) it is no longer a cold wallet. You can view receive addresses on sites like https://www.chiaexplorer.com/ or https://xchscan.com/ which you would use to check the value of your cold wallet.
