  • What are the features that are always needed in DApps development?
No more like a Chainlink oracle (https://chain.link/) which allows you to get off-chain data on-chain.

Yes, it requires an external data source (Oracle) that all parties agree on (and trust). This is the intersection https://chain.link/ is building.

It's not. It's an economy. If you haven't engaged with the technology or even have a surface level understanding of traditional financial tooling like derivatives, options, futures, precious metals trading, etc. then you shouldn't parrot what someone on Twitter says. Take the time to understand the existing system and how smart contracts work and some of the blue chip protocols like https://aave.com/ or https://chain.link/ and then make an informed opinion.
  • ELI5: How does a smart contract knows when the predetermined conditions necessary for it to be executed are met?
If the smart contract requires some information from outside the blockchain, you need to rely on a trusted third party (or the consensus of a decentralised group of third parties) to feed that data into the blockchain as a separate transaction. This is called a blockchain oracle. It could be the result of some web service call, the weather at a particular time and place, or just the output from a random number generator.

While there is an inevitable portion of the market that will behave that way, and it will be disheartening when people inevitably lose their investments, that doesn't allow for the outright dismissal of the technology behind them, i.e the blockchain structure & smart contracts. I'm enthusiastic about the potential of the space as a software engineer, but even I know that the current prices of cryptocurrencies are too high for their current level of development: It's only when Oracles & API bridges between blockchains and the physical world have been deployed widely, and the blockchains themselves have scaled up & adopt less energy intensive proof strategies (like PoS), would I be okay in justifying its market cap.
