The Lightning Network is excellent for your use-case. If you want a extremely low effort to enter you can install the mobile app "Breez". It has a PoS mode aswell.

The same can be said of any software. What makes software beta-quality or not is subjective. I'm not aware of any pressing bugs related to the handling of funds. Here's the issue tracker.

You could checkout the Breez app over at They don't like to call it a wallet, but I don't know what else to call it :) It allows you to make micro-payments via the Lightning Network which sits on top of the block chain. It's open-source and built with Flutter.

Where did I call Pheonix's fee questionable? I said "quite reasonable" and also noted that the fee percentage (minimum aside) was the same in both Breez and Phoenix. Perhaps you misread as UNreasonable? I know what the reason is for the fee. In any case, that doesn't change the fact that there are two similar offerings, and one has an edge for new users currently given the lack of minimum fee. A second tilt toward Breez's favor is that it has apps currently for both iOS and Android. It seems Pheonix's iOS app is imminent, so that will soon change. But in the mean time, it's nice to just point someone to and have them get a link to either iOS or Android instead of having to ask their OS first before recommending a Lightning app.
  • The Bitcoin Network now transfers $137,000 per second around the world without requiring a bank, government, or third party. | 2021-03-30
I have only tried a few mobile wallets, and maybe there's a better one out there, but I've found Breez to be easy. I use an Android phone, but they have an iOS app, too: I recently set up my own Lightning node and I was able to send myself 5000 Sats for a fee of 5 Sats, and I was able to send 10000 Sats for a fee of 10 Sats. I think 0.1% is pretty reasonable. I'm not an expert, so if anybody else here has advice about a better wallet, I'd love to hear about it!
  • Is there anyone can provide a quick update on how Lightning is progressing. What's new, what in the pipeline and how adoption is progressing?
Below are their websites with some information. I prefer breez because it is very intuitive but the podcast option is still in alpha so don't put too much bitcoin in the wallet;)
