If you're using default hud, what you need to do is download the base hud files here. Go into resource/ui, grab the hudplayerclass.res file and put that in your own tf2 folder in tf/custom/[ANY FOLDER NAME HERE]/resource/ui. Go into the hudplayerclass.res file with notepad and look for the section named "HudPlayerClass". Within that section you'll see a "visible" value set to 1. Change it to 0 and launch TF2.

Download the default hud files and folders here. Click on Code > Download ZIP. Unzip the TF2-Default-Hud-master folder into your tf/custom folder. Then open it up and go to scripts/hudlayout.res. Then go to the thread and copy + paste the code at the bottom of section 2. You'll want to make sure the brackets are in the right place like the video instructs.
