Have you considered more user-friendly injection methods, like BepInEx? The two main Skul mods use it (https://github.com/Tobi-Mob/Skul.Mod/ and https://github.com/MrBacanudo/SkulHardModeMods), and using it on yours would mean that all of them can work together.
