How in the world do I install NordVPN on my steam deck?
I'd recommend qbert rather than disabling the read-only filesystem. It survives updates and you can just turn it off if you want to.
- I've successfully system dumped the Steam Deck and ported SteamOS to a Chromebook. Presenting: the Chrome Deck

Bless them and Valve
This was recommended to me: https://github.com/XargonWan/Qbert

Installing snap store is possible but there is a catch and it's lengthy to install!

Can someone please ELI5 how to install a program in Steam Deck's desktop mode?
To do that, you will either need to unlock the read-only part or use qbert to get the same effect in a way that can't break stuff.

Access your Steam Deck Desktop remotely using krfb
for pacman on deck you can use qbert, which will let you leave the system read-only and lets you keep your files between updates. You can even put it into .bashrc so it runs automatically on boot.
