Steam VR is the worst
It's the shitty oculus software, I use oculus killer for this exact reason, just make sure you follow the instructions and of course, use at your own risk

Issues With Playing Steam VR Wirelessly
As for free stuff you can try, there's stuff you can mess with using Oculus debug tool (there's plenty of posts in this sub about it) and OculusKiller is worth a shot (it disables the Oculus dash and boots you straight to steamvr)

I can't run VR on my VR ready PC,I already done most of the tips and it's still unplayably laggy any help or am I missing something?
Second, either use https://github.com/LibreQuest/OculusKiller to kill the Oculus Dash and boot straight into SteamVR, the Oculus Dash uses up a lot of resources you want to use, or ditch Link completely and use ALVR or Virtual Desktop.
You can always try tinkering with the Oculus diagnostics tools, too. You can precisely tweak stuff like the bitrate, how strong ASW is (TL;DR interpolating frames so it doesn't have to render as much), resolution... Much more than what you can do in the Oculus app itself. Hell, you can squeeze even MORE performance by downloading and using something like OculusKiller, which skips their own home environment by loading you directly into SteamVR.

Awful performance [~10FPS] using SteamVR through Link Cable But perfectly Fine performance with Virtual Desktop / Native Oculus Runtime... This is a years long issue that seems to be constantly swept away and never solved...
I also use Oculus Killer to stop Oculus home from running with link and eating resources \Also Tested Without])

OculusKiller works with Airlink
I just discovered that OculusKiller (https://github.com/LibreQuest/OculusKiller) works with the AirLink, so as soon as you connect to your pc from the Quest 2 you start SteamVR bypassing completely the Oculus Dash.
