DTSHX Surround Sound configuration
If you're even more keen and willing to spend money and time, there's also Impulcifer which actually measures your own ears using in-ear mics and generates an HRIR from that. It's basically a much cheaper/open version of the Smyth Realiser.

The optimal headphones for ASMR in theory. What would they be? Do headphones with a doubled diffuse field equalization exist?
This project should be of interest to you. From what I understand, it attempts to simulate a speakers system with your headphones. Created by the same guy behind AutoEQ. I was planning to set it up but I'm too lazy.

Is true positional audio (HRTF, Binaural) still mostly dead in PC Gaming?
If you want a better result you could use Mesh2HRTF but you need a 3D scan of your ear for that, some iPhone's camera can do that. There's also Impulcifier made by the guy who created EqualizerAPO but it requires in ear microphones and other stuff.

Building 7.1 headphones?
For a great simulated surround experience, you can look into using Mesh2HRTF to calculate a HRTF from a scan of your head, or using Impulcifer to simulate a speaker setup based on measurements of your headphones and the speakers.

Virtual Surround Sound Headphone setup on Linux with Pipewire
Should be possible to use this method for individualised BRIR (with additional equipment) through something like impulcifer as well.

I have seen a few tools in the similar vein: this tutorial about JAPA, which also links to LSP profiler, and a more specialized Impulcifer.
