    I don’t think he wants to use default mode. I guess he just wants to remove the mode indicator. I hate it too. Installing a custom prompt (like Tide, although there are others that work) solved it for me, but I don’t know how to remove that thing manually.

    Well there are the docs, but there's not really that much to know. Anchors are just directory segments that are displayed in a different color and will never be truncated. Markers are just files/directories that will turn a segment into an anchor if they are present. Some default examples are .git, .hg, package.json etc. You can look at the configs to see more.
