  • Why does this actually make sense
I highly recommend Gridcoin for those frustrated by this fact, but still interested in cryptocurrency. Instead of just wasting floating point operations generating waste heat to crack an arbitrary cryptographic function, gridcoin instead uses that computational power as a massive cloud computer to solve problems that our species faces like protein folding, mapping our galaxy, and health and energy challenges. It's not perfect, nothing is, but it's definitely a step in the correct direction.

I was disappointed to not see any mentions of Gridcoin in the Proof of Stake section. It rewards people for their contributions to certain BOINC projects. There definitely is a range of "usefulness" to the projects supported. There are computations like distributed protein folding ([email protected]) all the way to analysis of Minecraft phenomenon ([email protected]). While the Minecraft makes for some very entertaining YouTube videos, the electricity used would probably be better spent on other projects. However, it is still a significant improvement over the computation for Bitcoin.

You need no hardware wallet. Plus I doubt something exists on the market woth gridcoin support. The best way to store is you computer and gridcoin wallet. You can get it ffom website. Well, do not forget to encrypt you wallet. Regarding buy options I can recommend only exchanger, so if uou own some other crypto you van consider using this one. I usually use it as a buying option, but the rates are not the best there For an alternatives check gridcoin us website, afair they had some others exchangers listed.
