-
Does anyone know of a replacement for the module Maestro?
This can definitely be done with Sequencer but it isn't necessarily going to be the easiest thing in the world. Automated Animations might also help, but I haven't used it in a while.

-
Is there a way to place multiple templates with a single spell?
I don't use it myself so I can't say for certain, but I believe this should be possible with the Sequencer Module.

That said, the special effects functionality of FXMaster is not being developed any further actively and might actually be removed in a future release. This is because there now is a module that does it quite a bit better: https://github.com/fantasycalendar/FoundryVTT-Sequencer, so you might want to take a look at that (JB2A also integrates with it, e.g.). FXMaster will instead focus on particle effects (the weather effects) and filter effects.

Finding Sequencer Commands
Sequencer is awesome. Full STOP!
You want to look at the Class documentation in the wiki to see what commands can be chained. For an Effect, for example (which would come after the .effect() in the chain), you can see every method in that class here: https://github.com/fantasycalendar/FoundryVTT-Sequencer/wiki/Effects

Chain Lightning using Advanced Spell Effects for Foundry VTT.
You can also probably do that with the Sequencer module, plus the animations.
