  The template you are using is two years out of date and probably is no longer compatible with newer Ren'Py changes. Try using the new mod template which is now here.

  Again, I'd highly recommend playing the game, reading it will not do it justice. But you can get the files to read most easily here. That's a tool for modding the game, but it has all the files you'd need to be able to read the script. Start in the original scripts folder, with script-ch0.rpy, then change files to go to whatever label is jumped or called to.

  Another way is to see how Dan wrote his code, or use the mod template. The files included have comments in the files showing what everything does.

  Mobile ports of mods are allowed thanks to an update from TS themselves, as a result you can find official Android ports of mods like Vigilante, even the modding template has native Android export functionality. The only thing you can't do is port someone else's mod to mobile.

  Oh. Your using the MAS template. That won't work in Ren'Py 7. You need to use the Hanaka/Weiss template over on https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/DDLCModTemplate2.0/releases to code and make a Ren'Py 7 complaint mod. MAS abandoned theirs 2 years ago.

  I don't think modders will actually use the new version that much. Firstly: they will have to learn a new engine, secondly: currently, there is no support by modding community for DDLC+, original game modding community has stuff like DDLC Mod Template, and Mod managers, thirdly: mods for the original game will have less attention, not everyone who played DDLC will buy DDLC+.
