How to slightly bend object?
BOSL2 has a function for bending a polyhedron around a given radius but it's one of those functions that are super powerful but not very clear about how to use effectively (maybe that's just me).
-
What software does one use for 3D modeling?
It can be challenging to do things that are simple in other programs, like fillets/chamfers, without a library like BOSL2. The best reason to use it compared to something like Fusion 360 is that it's free with no strings attached.

Marrying OpenSCAD and Go
Attachment is supported in BOSL2 based on user space data structures https://github.com/revarbat/BOSL2/wiki/attachments.scad - a similar integrated solution should be doable with the existing object infrastructure that is not reflected in the language yet.

Best program for CAD coding bionic design?
For your specific use case, you want the BOSL2 library for OpenSCAD. (Documentation) It adds many functions that return Vertices'N'Faces - an array length 2, where the the first element is a list of vertices ([x,y,z]), and the second is a list of faces (a face is an array of indices into the vertex array).

Using children() in a for loop?
Have you looked at BOSL2? I wonder if attachments could offer some of what you're looking for. Fair warning: the library is pretty complex, but I think it adds a lot o useful and consistent ways of working with OpenSCAD.
- OpenSCAD 3D rendering just got an order of magnitude faster
