Major version releases have breaking changes. I don't see the issue. I've been doing .NET development since the original version was in beta (20 years now?) For the most part I have no complaints about the docs - and hey you're free to submit a PR against the docs if you want to contribute, have at it: https://github.com/dotnet/AspNetCore.Docs
  • Hit a wall trying to implement DBContextFactory
    reddit.com/r/Blazor | 2021-08-14
I am trying to create a simple contact management app using Blazor Server and EF Core. I'm referencing the project located here to do so. I was initially going to use a service class for db communications, but the project I'm looking at is using DBContextFactory, so I am trying to do the same. The problem is that I can't seem to inject the dependency into the index.razor file. The program cannot find my Context class for some reason. I can't find any resources online for why this is happening. I have triple-checked my code, and combed through the example code. At this point I am lost and figured I'd try a reddit post before giving up on the DBContextFactory and using a service class instead, even though it's not best-practice. I am extremely new to Blazor (this is actually a coding challenge I am working on) so I apologize if I'm not giving adequate information. Please let me know if there is more I can apply.

  • Blazor/C# .NET 5: Localisation not working (Namespace different to Assembly name)
    reddit.com/r/csharp | 2021-06-09
I have an issue that's been somewhat documented (ASP .NET Core, not Blazor - AssemblyInfo.cs is mentioned, but this doesn't exist in Blazor...). I don't know how to fix it other than changing the assembly name to match the namespace. There are already a couple of hundred people using this software so I'd rather not change the entire structure forcing everyone to redownload, hence I'd like to keep the Assembly Name the same.

Absolutely agree. I opened a ticket to try and get information about a clear gap in the docs a few months ago and it was closed as a “general question” - I ended up finding a ticket where they want to enhance claims docs, though it’s still open and seems to just automatically flow to the next months todo list https://github.com/dotnet/AspNetCore.Docs/issues/16488

ASP.NET Core is an open-source and cross-platform framework for building modern cloud based internet connected applications, such as web apps, IoT apps and mobile backends. ASP.NET Core apps run on .NET Core, a free, cross-platform and open-source application runtime. It was architected to provide an optimized development framework for apps that are deployed to the cloud or run on-premises. It consists of modular components with minimal overhead, so you retain flexibility while constructing your solutions. You can develop and run your ASP.NET Core apps cross-platform on Windows, Mac and Linux. Learn more about ASP.NET Core.
  • [Success story] struggling to scaffold Razor Pages with Entity Framework Core in ASP.NET Core today; lecturer said to start from scratch and go back to the coursework, but I persevered and added 84 files to my project
I'm a 48-year old CS degree student. Just a quickie to say that I was struggling to scaffold Razor Pages with Entity Framework Core in ASP.NET Core today; my lecturer, who has known I've been struggling since the start of the module ('Internet Scripting') advised me to start over, and practice with the Microsoft sample Contoso University project, but although I always listen to his advice, I didn't want to lose 4 days work by starting over, so I persevered and actually made a good deal of progress in adding 84 files, including 10 self-customised files to do the CRUD.

  • Run EF Core Queries on SQL Server From Blazor WebAssembly
    dev.to | 2020-09-21
Notice that I’m using EF Core extension methods and functions as part of the query! Although I haven’t tested it, this should also work perfectly fine with Azure Cosmos DB. It was a very exciting moment to see the Sample project run and return results the first time. I plan to build a more involved sample based on the reference contacts app and MVVM. The rest of this post is about the journey. I won’t cover everything, but it has been an amazing journey the past several months.
