  • ComboJack

Discontinued Hackintosh combojack support for alc256/alc255.

  • I tried all of the layouts that are created for ALC255 and NONE of them worked properly (getting no sound from speakers and/or headphones, getting static noise from the headphones, or the sound not working properly after sleep, …) so I went on to create my own layout from scratch; got my codec-dump and its visual graph, noted audio nodes and possible node-mixer connections, compiled AppleALC after every change I made, and I did this process to get audio from any source for 9000 times. I can say that it wasn’t pleasant. At all. Even the layout I created specifically for this laptop still does not work properly, headset mic is still not working and I need ComboJack fix to get audio from headphones/headset after sleep. At least internal mics and headphones/headsets work now.

  • VoltageShift

    undervoltage Tools for MacOS

  • Additionally, I did undervolt CPU & GPU to reduce the heat a bit and save some battery with VoltageShift (it’s still not good though, I get like 4 hours of SoT total.)
