  • osxphotos

Python app to work with pictures and associated metadata from Apple Photos on macOS. Also includes a package to provide programmatic access to the Photos library, pictures, and metadata.

  • Alternatively, you can use the free osxphotos command line tool (of which I'm the author) to export your photos while preserving all available metadata including face regions, albums, etc. osxphotos has an extensive tutorial with examples. It will give you full control over the name and folder for the exported files, will write metadata to exported files automatically if desired (using exiftool), etc. See also r/osxphotos

  • exiftool

    ExifTool meta information reader/writer

  • You can later write the metadata from the XMP sidecar to the original file using the free exiftool tool using the command:

  • InfluxDB
