Set up a VPN server on the machine your NextCloud is on. It will only take a couple minutes. When you connect to this VPN, it'll be as if you were at home connected to your home network. You will be able to access your NextCloud, but if you aren't connected to the VPN, you (or anybody else) won't be able to access it. You should do this even if you end up going with option 2, because it's always useful to have a way to reach your machines at home if you're in a different location and you need to access the machine itself, not just NextCloud. Random example: your NextCloud is running super slow and you're not sure why so you connect to the VPN, SSH into the machine and reboot it.
