  • distrobox

Use any linux distribution inside your terminal. Enable both backward and forward compatibility with software and freedom to use whatever distribution you’re more comfortable with. Mirror available at: https://gitlab.com/89luca89/distrobox

If you want to broaden your options to things beyond just what Steam OS makes available to you, check out Distrobox, which gives you a way to install another Linux distribution inside a container and integrate it with your host Linux distro. You could use that and install other Lua-based game engines inside a container distro like Ubuntu, which would give you some options beyond the somewhat smaller collection of software SteamOS and flathub provides.

  • Sonar

Write Clean C++ Code. Always.. Sonar helps you commit clean C++ code every time. With over 550 unique rules to find C++ bugs, code smells & vulnerabilities, Sonar finds the issues while you focus on the work.

  • love

LÖVE is an awesome 2D game framework for Lua.

That being said, instead of using the Bitty Engine (nothing against it tho) since you are just starting you may want to try the suggestions from wz-ilazki and even try https://love2d.org/ we are pretty active on the forums and Discord (maybe even on IRC)

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
