Your devices support DoH and/or DoT, at least on browser side, so you can just get a free DDNS domain from DuckDNS, get SSL setup through LetsEncrypt, then configure the device identifier from DoH query string or DoT subdomain.
If you set it at the home network router, then you lose device identification. Unless you use a forwarder like nextdns cli that can include LAN-specific info into the DoH query.
