UnRaid is a NAS OS, and includes Docker containers and KVM-based VMs. Same for OpenMediaVault https://www.openmediavault.org/. They are both Linux-based. If you finally decide to stick with Proxmox or even ESXi, look at Starwind San and NAS virtual OS, https://www.starwindsoftware.com/free-san-and-nas. It is lighter than TrueNAS.
As a side note for any dark mode fans, there is no official dark mode for Proxmox. This dark theme however, took me about 30 seconds to install and looks great.
