Database API Standard?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/Python

Our great sponsors
  • SurveyJS - Open-Source JSON Form Builder to Create Dynamic Forms Right in Your App
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • Hasura

Blazing fast, instant realtime GraphQL APIs on your DB with fine grained access control, also trigger webhooks on database events.

The closest thing I know of in this vague direction is Hasura, which targets GraphQL rather than REST (so doesn't paper over the underlying database capabilities to quite the same extent), and is an implementation rather than a standard, and still leaves you with nowhere for your business logic.

  • automatic-api

A list of software that turns your database into a REST/GraphQL API

A fuller list of things like this is at https://github.com/dbohdan/automatic-api

  • SurveyJS

Open-Source JSON Form Builder to Create Dynamic Forms Right in Your App. With SurveyJS form UI libraries, you can build and style forms in a fully-integrated drag & drop form builder, render them in your JS app, and store form submission data in any backend, inc. PHP, ASP.NET Core, and Node.js.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
