I'm sorry if this was posted a million times but hear me out please.

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linux_gaming

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • openQA

    openQA web-frontend, scheduler and tools.

for gaming I would use tumbleweed (rolling release) version as then you will get latest stuff (but unlike on Arch (-based), so its more tested / stable thanks to openQA and obs)

  • lutris

    Lutris desktop client

Ubuntu/kubuntu is great for new users. Also don't tinker (change/mod things) the first thing you do. Stay inside the GUI spaces in the beginning, The Terminal is there and it will call to you sooner or later and you will use it more and more. If you are a gamer, remember that most Anti-cheat activated games won't work, sometimes only online but sometimes it won't work Single-player either. https://www.protondb.com/ is a great source for checking if games work or if somethings need to be done beforehand and so on. https://lutris.net/ is a great help with Wine to get games outside of steam running (don't use proton outside of steam, and refrain from using wine inside of steam. If someone recommends using "GE"(GloriousEggroll) you can use https://davidotek.github.io/protonup-qt/ To manage both proton-GE(for Steam) and Wine-GE(for anything outside steam).

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • ProtonUp-Qt

Install and manage GE-Proton, Luxtorpeda & more for Steam and Wine-GE & more for Lutris with this graphical user interface.
