More of an entirely new approach to shell workflows than a bash rewrite but nushell is written in Rust. Personally I think this is a better approach in the long run, although it will take a very long time to replace the default shell on most distros. Bash has some pretty nasty footguns built-in which makes it less beginner-friendly than would be ideal for such an essential part of the linux experience.
