If you just want the vanilla game then you can just downloaded it from the actual minecraft.net site. It has 3 linux versions, debian, arch, and other. While I couldn't get the arch version to work even though it the steam deck is arch based, the "other" option worked great and I feel safe knowing I'm using the officially sponsored version. though the downside is you need to install java and set that up.
