Had to look through a lot of comments to find this. I built a PiHole a few years back and it's great. Set it as the dns on my router, so every device I have runs through it. Now, I don't know if it works with YouTube ads, as I pay for YouTube music, but for everything else it works great. I'd imagine it'd work for YouTube ads, but I've never actually tried to find out.
