You can login with your PSN on a modded PS3 console and sync trophies, but that always carries a ban risk. It's mitigated to a low risk if you disable syscalls before signing in (press R2+ triangle with Webman installed), but still it's up to you how much risk you want to take with your account. Personally I've had no issues with just logging in to play online and sync trophies, earned a few plats legit myself.
