Best way to update managed node groups eks

  EKS Rolling Update is a utility for updating the launch configuration of worker nodes in an EKS cluster.

  

I was thinking of using the lifecycle create_before_destroy which would create a new node group and then destroy the older one. Is this the best way to move forward? Using unmanaged/self managed nodes we've been using https://github.com/hellofresh/eks-rolling-update which works perfectly.
