    • I came across blurha.sh a while ago that does this very nicely. Basically you generate a pretty short string from an image that can be used to display a blurred version of the image while the image itself is still being downloaded. Generating that string can be done on the device, but I figure it would be much better for you to do it on the backend since your image will be uploaded there anyway.
