Would there be any value in an open-source version of MetaFilter?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/MetaFilterMeta

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Lobsters

Computing-focused community centered around link aggregation and discussion

  • The value it does give is a framework to create features, bug fixes and releases. So if there is a bug or feature request someone can make the change, issue a pull request and in theory someone at Metafilter would just need to sign off and release it. Furthermore people can create bugs and things in a backlog, they can be tagged and prioritized in a clear and transparent way. A lot of sites do this, most famously https://github.com/lobsters/lobsters

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
